LAN File Transfer

Transfer files between devices on the same WiFi network. No server, no upload, pure P2P via WebRTC.

About LAN File Transfer

Transfer files directly between devices on the same local network using WebRTC DataChannel. No files are uploaded to any server — all data flows peer-to-peer, encrypted via DTLS. Works between phone, tablet, and computer. Uses QR codes for signaling: the sender displays an Offer QR, the receiver scans it and shows an Answer QR (or 26 BIP39 words if no camera is available).

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this require an internet connection?

No. Once both devices are on the same WiFi network, the file transfer is entirely local. No data ever leaves your network.

What is the file size limit?

There is no hard limit, but very large files (several GB) may strain browser memory since the receiver buffers the entire file before download. For typical use (documents, photos, short videos) it works great.

What if my sender has no camera?

The receiver always shows both a QR code and 26 BIP39 words. The sender can manually type the 26 words with Tab-autocomplete — typically takes about 30 seconds.
